The National Science Olympiad (NSO) is an annual scholarship exam that aims to cultivate scientific reasoning and logical ability among school-going children. Every year, approximately ten lakh students register for NSO. It is conducted at two levels, and each level has three sets, namely A, B, and C.

FAQs
Conducted annually by Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF), NSO is a scholarship exam aimed at cultivating scientific reasoning and logical ability among students studying in class 1 to class 12, through a rigorous test. SOF NSO is conducted at Levels 1 and 2.
National Science Olympiad (NSO) is conducted at two levels each year. It was the first Olympiad conducted by SOF. It has been conducted since 1998. Students from class I-XII may participate in the examination. International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) is conducted at two levels each year.
NSO examinations are only open to students in grades 1 to 12. Science is a required topic in which the candidate has a strong interest. Boards – The NSO test is only open to students who are enrolled in CBSE, ICSE, or a state board.
The applicant should be a registered school student in either of the classes from classes 1-12. A student must be studying under SSC, ICSE, CBSE, or any other recognized education board in India. A student can attend only one NSO every academic year.
Any student registered in school up to class 12 during the current academic year is eligible. There is no lower age limit for participation.
