About MBOSE
The Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) was established in 1974 under the Act in 1973, to regulate, and supervise Secondary Education in the schools of Meghalaya. When the board was first established it has the responsibility of conducting an exam of SSLC (for class X) only but after 1996, the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) discontinued the courses and it was taken by the board. Since 1996, the board is dealing with financial matters, academic matters, and conducting SSLC and HSSLC examinations. The board itself frames and revises the syllabus for SSLC and HSSLC classes. The regional office of MBOSE is located in Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya state. At present, about 1400 schools across the state are affiliated with the Board.
