माना कि किसी बिन्दु P से x,y तथा z-अक्ष पर खींचे गये लम्बों के पाद A, B, C हैं। A, B, C के निर्देशांक निकालें यदि P के नियामक हैं :

$=\sqrt{P{A}^{2}+AB^2}$
$=\sqrt{4^{2}+3^{2}}$
=√16+9
=√25=5
x-अक्ष से दूरी$=\sqrt{(-1)^{2}+4^{2}}$
=√1+16
=√17
z-अक्ष से दूरी
$=\sqrt{(-1)^{2}+(-3)^{2}}$
=√10
x-अक्ष से दूरी$=\sqrt{y^{2}+z^{2}}$
y-अक्ष से दूरी$=\sqrt{x^{2}+z^{2}}$
z-अक्ष से दूरी$=\sqrt{x^{2}+y^2}$
