    Khalsa College, the premier-most institute of higher learning, was established by the leaders of the Singh Sabha Movement in 1892. They were inspired by the lofty ideals of the great Gurus. They planned it to be a growing institution which would strive forever to achieve high degree of excellence of mind and body for the welfare of the youth. The architectural grandeur of its buildings and layout of its campus clearly demonstrate the ”will” of the founders.

    Khalsa College establishment committee was formed in 1890 and college foundation laid on March, 5, 1892. It is the masterpiece of the tradition Sikh architecture and a mixture of French, British, Mughal and Rajput architecture and conceived by Bhai Ram Singh ji. The distinguished alumni of the college include renowed personalities (Dr Bhai Jodh Singh, S. Bhian Singh Samundri, Dr. Gurbax Singh), National Leader (Sir Sunder Singh Majithia and Master Tara Singh), Sportsmen (S. Manna Singh and S Harbial Singh). The other institutions include Khalsa College of Education, Khalsa College for Women, Khalsa Collegiate Hr/Sec School, Khalsa Collegiate Girls Hr/Sec School, Sikh History Research Department, Physiotherapy Department, Khalsa College of Nursing and Agriculture and Dairy farm. Recently Society has established Khalsa College of Engg. & Technology and Khalsa College of Pharmacy. After the portioned on independence of the country in 1947, the University of Punjab continued at Lahore and part of the Punjab which remained in India, established a new university, known as Punjab University. Local medical college and Khalsa College of Amritsar served as a host for B-Pharm Classes for the pharmacy teachers and students which shifted from Lahore. Khalsa College provided physical facility for teaching Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Pharmacognosy. Dr PN Mehra, Head of the university department of Botany which was also temporarily housed at Khalsa College and headed the department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Pharmacognosy.

    In KCOP, learning is not just a series of instructions but a passion which goes beyond books, instructions and learning horizons. The College objective to provide trained technical manpower to the rapidly expanding Pharmaceutical Industry in the region and to carry out research in advanced areas of Pharmaceutical sciences. The College is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, PCI, Govt. of Punjab and are affiliated to PTU, Jalandhar& PSBTE& IT.

    Eligibility : Candidate must have pass 10+2 or equivalent conducted by a recognized board / university / council with Maths/ Biology, Physics, Chemistry and English as compulsory subjects. Direct Admission to Second Year B. Pharm is possible for Diploma holders. (D. Pharm).

    Selection Procedure
    Govt. Seats: State Level Common Entrance Test (CET) & Counselling by PTU, Jalandhar.
    Mgt. Seats: Direct admission by the institute.

    The B. Pharm course is of four years duration , for which the Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar conducts the qualifying examinations. Students completing this degree course are eligible to register as pharmacist and practise the profession throughout India as per the rules and regulations of Pharmacy Council of India. Through this degree program the students are trained to work in hospitals as well as in pharmaceutical manufacturing and analytical units. Apart from the usual curriculum, the college provides practical training in pharmaceutical industries and in hospitals all over India. Students completing the degree program in this institution are thus themselves getting enormous confidence and ability in their profession.
