Pendrani Mahavidylaya, Umerkote named after the famous local deity “MAA PENDRANI” is the second biggest college in the district of Nabarangpur, Odisha. Prior to 1984, there was no such educational institute at Umerkote to enable aspirant students to pursue higher education. They had to either despair or take admission in other colleges, the nearest being at Nabarangpur at a distance of 62kms. However, through the initiative and untiring endeavours of some of the local educationists and leaders, it come into existence in 1984, to fulfil the long cherished dreams of the local people.

The College has been notified by the Govt. Of Odisha as an aided college since 1994 and covered under 2(f) and 12(b) of the UGC Act 1956. It is a co-educational institution catering to the higher educational needs of more than 2500 students, most of whom belonging to the ST/SC category who are educationally and economically backward. More than 50% of the students are girls.
