Jaintia Eastern College was established in the year 1992 and affiliated to North-Eastern Hill University. It is a Regional Centre for IGNOU Study Center of Shillong and its centre code is 1808 D. Principal of Jaintia Eastern College, Khliehriat is Sh Phervision Nongtdu.

Jaintia Eastern College is located at Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya started in the year 1992. It is a private, co-educational institution in Arts and Commerce stream. The College is affiliated to North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, recognized u/s 2 f & 12 B of UGC Act 1956 and accredited Grade ‘B’ by NAAC in 2016. It is manage by governing body, a non-profit educational body registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. Jaintia Eastern Higher Secondary School is a sister institution delinked from the College in 2018 and affiliated to Meghalaya Board of School Education, Tura.

During this short period of its existence, this College has carved a distinctive place for itself in the state as is among the NAAC accredited colleges affiliated to NEHU.
