Master of Philosophy in Accounting (M.Phil.Accounting), is a two years postgraduate Accounting degree course in India. The master’s study program is designed for candidates who have the interest to increase their knowledge and skills in an accounting through research.

The aim of advance master's study program is to provide in-depth knowledge of accounting with advance theory and research processes, with strong research foundation and analytical skills. The study preparing candidates for conducting research and to provide opportunities for the design of discipline-based research project.
The study is designed to provide students with a systematic approach for making financial decisions by providing candidates with practices in the analysis, design, implementation, and control of Accounting & Financial strategies. It is an operationally oriented course in which the application of Accounting concepts, principles, strategies.

The study is focused on theoretical and practical aspects of Principles and Techniques in an academic discipline such as Corporate Reporting, Business Ethics, Corporate Philanthropy, Social and Environmental Accounting, Sustainable and Social Measurement, Sustainability and Social Measurement, Third Sector Accountability, Accounting History.

Eligibility

The candidate has to complete Postgraduate or Master’s Degree like, Master of Commerce (M.Com) or equivalent examination, with minimum aggregate 55% marks, such candidates are eligible to take admission in M.Phil.Accounting Degree professional study program.

In India, it is mandatory to clear an additional Entrance Examination like Common Entrance Exam (CEE), conducted by Universities for pursuing this course. In some universities take the personal interview and asked few questions on General Knowledge, Personality, Intelligence Assessment and English Language.

Course Duration / Learning Mode

This course requires study requires 2 years of the time period with an internship in India. The study is based on practical and theoretical aspects of Accounting. It’s a Full Time professional degree course, but some candidates use part time, correspondence education program and also go for distance learning study option to earn this degree.

Further Studies

After the successful completion of this course, candidates can also pursue the higher studies and do Ph.D. (Doctorate in Accounting), or research oriented work in their respective field.
