The D.A.V. College Trust and Management Society was established on 31st January 1886. It is now the oldest & biggest non-governmental educational organisation in India. It covers broadly the entire spectrum of educational activity in the country. The society developed a chain of institutions from Jammu and Kashmir in the North to Tamilnadu in the South, from Rajasthan in the West to Manipur in the East, with a view to meet the demand for enlightening and progressive education based on the requirements of contemporary times with emphasis on values of life. It includes over 750 public and aided schools, colleges in the faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce, Education, Law, Technical, Ayurvedic, Medicine, Pharmacy & Management. It has completed one hundred and fourteen years of its academic service. Apart from providing the traditional value education, it has also contributed to the society through the establishment of Maternity Hospital at Ambala, a Rural Development Training Ashram in Manipur, the Lalchand Library and a Research Department in Hoshiyarpur.

The Management established Dayanand College of Arts and Science in Solapur in 1940 to celebrate the victory of Satyagraha launched by Arya Samaj against the atrocities committed by then the ruler of Hyderabad. Since then the Managing Committee has gone on continuously expanding its educational activities for the welfare of the people of Solapur and the surrounding areas. On 17th June 1940 Dayanand College of Arts and Science was established under the stewardship of Prin. G.L. Datta. The city of Solapur and the surrounding areas needed such a facility. Dayanand Institutions have been doing excellent work in serving the cause of education not only for Solapur District but also for the surrounding areas. Dayanand Institutions are spread over an area of 63 acres of land with impressive and magnificent buildings for classrooms, spacious and well-equipped laboratories and libraries as also vast playgrounds with a pavilion to seat more than 3000 students.

The college was established in the year 1940 after the marathon Satyagraha by Arya Samaj in 1939 against the social and political oppression by the then rulers of Hyderabad. The College is well-established with a Library, Class rooms, Gardens, Hostels (Hostel for Men with a facility for 350 boarders and a Hostel for Women with a facility for 60 boarders), an Open-Air-Theatre, a Playground, a Free Dispensary, a Post-Office and a Bank etc., spread over 63 acres of “Dayanand Nagar”.

Our Staff Members are academicians and professionals of the highest caliber. Imparting knowledge comes naturally to them. And so is molding the overall development of students. Creating novel methods of teaching and adhering to a strict regimen gives our Staff the distinct advantage over traditional methods.

The Dayanand Institutions, puts great emphasis on faculty development programs to widen the range of vision of the teaching staff. This also includes deputing the teaching staff to participate in Workshops, Conferences, Symposia and Seminars conducted by professional bodies.
