Savitribai Phule Mahila Mahavidyalaya is the only independent women’s college in Satara city providing qualified educational services to the women in and around Satara city. It is situated in the heart of Satara city, a semi-urban taluka place in Western Maharashtra. The college is named after late Savitribai Phule who opened the doors of education for women. The college is started and run by Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, Satara. This college reflects the vision of the Sanstha to which it belongs and its founder has moulded itself in the best tradition and culture of the Satara.

Savitribai Phule Mahila Mahavidyalaya This college established in June 1989 is named after the great woman and first lady teacher Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule. The college started initially with the strength of 72 students and Today College has gone up to 951 students. The college is enlisted under permanent affiliation during July 2006 by Shivaji University, Kolhapur and University has sent the report to the U.G.C.The college is accredited with score 68 and grade C++ by NAAC for the years September 2004 to September 2009. The College can be termed as ‘pursuit of academic excellence’.
