    The Institute, located in a sprawling campus spread over 1300 acres carpeted by lush green grass is complemented by the verdure of the woods in the distance. The environs instill tranquility and nurture the right perspective, highly conducive to the intellectual development of the students.

    The academic complexes consist of spacious and well-equipped lecture halls, syndicate rooms, faculty and administrative blocks, a state-of-the-art computer centre and an extensive library.There are seperate hostels for Boys & Girls. The college also provides residential accommodation for academic and administrative staff. Library The FOMS library is one of the pillars for the progress of the Institute. It has a comprehensive database of about 20,000 books on management, which includes exclusive reference publications. For the periodicals section, the institute subscribes to over 150 national and international magazines and journals. In addition the FOMS is on the mailing list of most leading business houses.The audio-visual section includes CD-ROMS and satellite communication equipment for conducting interactive sessions through SINET. It also features an impressive collection of films/videos on management education , selected from all functional areas of management. A students committee chaired by a faculty member ensures the updation and maintenance of the books and journals. Computer Center Students have access to computer facilities throughout the day and night. Our state-of- art computer centre has two laboratories which comprise of over 60 Pentium based machines.

    The systems of the main lab are linked through a Windows NT LAN, while the lab for students specializing in Information Systems has a Unix based LAN. Our fast growing collection of software includes : UNIX & C, C++, VC++, ORACLE 7.1 with DEVELOPER 2000, JAVA, OFFICE ‘97’, MULTIMEDIA and various kinds of graphics software. The "Cyber Nest" is a communication centre which provides Internet, E-Mail, Fax and STD facilities.

Recognising the importance of the environment in which the student manager lives and functions, and the bearing it carries on his development, the Institute strives to provide the best.The college provides residential accommodation set admist abundant greenery in peaceful surroundings for the students. A wide range of facilities for recreation and sports are available within the campus:

    Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Swimming, Golf, Football, Volleyball, Squash, as well as a well-equipped health club. A recreation block consisting of indoor games, TV lounge and a canteen, caters to the need of the students. The learning options for the students at FOMS are not limited to the classrooms and therefore co-curricular activities form a valuable part of teaching at the faculty of management studies. Our students have been participating and registering successes at the management festivals held at Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow, Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Ghaziabad and Amity Business School, Delhi.

    Our students are also directly involved in the functioning of the institute, thus infusing a great amount of confidence in them. Each student is actively involved in the college committees, some of which are:

    Selection for the MBA & PGDMM course is done through a scientifically structuredand transparent process, comprising of three stages :

    Stage I : Written Admission Test (WAT) Written Admisssion Test (WAT) conducted at All India level at 34 centres, based on which candidates are short-listed for Group Discussion (GD) and Panel Interview (PI).*

    Stage II : Group Discussion (GD) A selection panel of three eminent persons evaluate the students during GD. Each panelist provides an individual assessment.

    Stage III : Panel Interview (PI) The students are then interviewed by a different three member panel. *The panels for GD and PI comprise of members from front ranking mgt institutes, select business professionals and service officers with training and experience of Services Selection Boards.

    DETAILS OF ADMISSION PROCEDURE

    ELIGIBILITY AND PROCESS

    Candidates must have a graduate degree in the 10+2+3 pattern in any discipline recognized by Association of Indian Universities. With a minimum of 50% marks their final tear degree examination by 01 Aug. 2000, can also apply. Such students, if selected, will be given provisional admission.

    Admission Test (WAT). For MBA (FT) and PGDMM Courses, further selection is based on the merit list prepared after Group Discussion and Personnel Interview (GD&PI) of all candidates shortlisted after the WAT The written Test will be conducted at centers appointed on 31 January 1999 The MBA (Full Time) course is open only to children of defence personnel. This includes children adopted prior to June 1995 and remarried widows. The applicant should be:

    A citizen of India, a subject of Nepal / Bhutan or of Indian origin. Child of serving personnel / ex-serviceman with pensionary benefit including those who may have joined Assam Rifles, BSF, TA, NCC or DSC after retirement. Wards of AMC officers seconded to IAF of Navy who have rendered at least 10 years service in the Army and are members of AOBF. War widows who are in receipt of liberalised pension, local / regular MNS with 10 years service / pension, are also eligible.

    Wards of Army Postal Service (APS) personnel who have put in minimum of 10 years service in the Army or those recruited directly and retired from the Corps after completing their minimum pensionable service If all the seats in MBA (FT) cannot be filled up from this category, the remaining seats may be offered to the General category of civilians. Allotment of such seats will, however, be made by the MP State Govt. through its admission procedure i.e. Madhya Pradesh Management Joint Entrance Test (MPMJET).

    Right of admission is of Management. Any dispute will be decided by Management Committee whose decision will be final. Should the need arise, Jabalpur is the only station for legal recourse. For PGDMM and MBA (DLP) civilians are also eligible.

    EXAMINATION FEES

    To appear in the WAT, candidates are required to deposit a sum of Rs 450/- through a bank draft drawn in favour of "CMM MANAGEMENT EDUCATION FUND ACCOUNT" payable at Jabalpur along with completed application form so as to reach FOMS latest by 31 Dec 2000 at the following address: Director, Faculty Management Studies, The College of Materials Management, The Ridge Road, Jabalpur 482001.

    APPLICATION FORM

    Applications can only be submitted on the serially numbered form provided with each copy of prospectus. They are to be submitted along with the following documents,

    1. Three identical passport size photographs with one copy affixed on page2 of application form dulty attested by a Public Notary of by any Class I gazetted officer or by the Principal of the Institute where studying. The other two copies to be affixed on page 3 of Application form must not be attested.

    2. Dependent certificates in case of wards of defence personnel with Personnel No. and CDA (O) / IRLA No. (PPO in case of retired personnel). Serving Certificate in case of serving defence personnel.

    3. A demand draft of Rs. 450/- in favour of "CMM Management Fund Account" payable at Jabalpur. The application form should be attested by any Class I gazetted officer / Principal of the college where the candidate has studied. The application must be submitted in the envelope enclosed with Application form.

    EXAMINATION CENTRES

    The WAT will be conducted at 34 centers, specified on the reverse of the application form. These however, may be changed by The Principal, CMM, for administrative convenience. Candidates are advised to fill all three choices of centres in the application form. The centre allotted to each candidate will be indented on the Admission.

    ADMIT CARD

    The candidates whose application form and examination test fee are received correct in all respects, by stipulated date will be issued admit cards so as to reach them latest by 21 Jan 2001. The cards will be sent to outstation candidates by registered post. In case any application does got receive the card, the Director, FOMS may be contacted on phone / fax. Even if no contact can be made, the candidate should report to the selected centre, along with proof of identity, since each centre will have updated lists of all eligible candidates.

    Local candidates are required to collect their admit cards from FOMS, CMM, Jabalpur after 21 Jan 2001 if not received by post.

    WAT

    The WAT will be of two hours duration. WAT will be an objective type test to assess the candidates in English language and its comprehension, Mathematics, Data Interpretation and General Knowledge. Sample questions are attached as a booklet with this prospectus. There will be negative marking for incorrect answers.

    SELECTION FOR GD & PI

    Based on performance in WAT, candidates will be selected for GD & PI. Results of WAT/ Call letters for GD & PI will be dispatched to the candidates at the postal address given on the application form by 07 March 2001. In case of on-receipt / change in address it will be the responsibility of the candidates to ascertain the same from either the FOMS, Jabalpur or the Ordnance Branch at Army / Command Headquarters.

    The result will also be displayed on the notice board of FOMS and copies will be made available at all examination centres.

    FINAL SELECTION

    After GD&PI, a merit list will be prepared. The relative weightage on which the merit will be based is Written Admission Test 50%

    Group Discussion 15%

    Personal Interview 20%

    Academic Record/Qualification 10%

    Extra Curricular/Work Experience 5%
