College of Applied Sciences, Mananthavady is affiliated to University of Kannur and is established in 2008 with Regular courses of BSc Computer Science and BSc Electronics.

Wayanad is known for its scenic beauty and unique climate, but when compared to other districts in kerala, wayanad is socially and educationally backward. In order to make up this deficiency, This institution was established in 2008 at mananthavady under the management of IHRD. The college was given the name P.K.Kalan memorial college of applied science as attribute to PK Kalan, the former Kerala folklore academy chairman and tribal Gaddika artist of Wayanad. PK Kalan was very active tribal leader who worked hard for the upliftment and well being of all the tribals in wayanad. He became a strong voice against the social evils and superstitions in the society.

This college was affiliated to University of Kannur with regular courses of Bsc Computer Science, Bsc Electronics, Bcom with computer Applications and Msc Electronics. Beside short term diploma courses Like DCA are also conducted. Considering the social structure of wayanad, 80% of the seats are reserved to the SC/ST students. PK KM CAS take special care in arts and sports talents of the students and provides enough facilities and practices to improve it. Each year nearly 100 student’s pass out of the college well prepared to enter into suitable jobs.

The best way to bring forward those who are discriminated and socially suppressed is to give them proper education and social orientation which may make them self sufficient PK KM CAS is flying up to this glorious goals.

PKKM CAS, Mananthavady managed by IHRD started functioning during the academic year 2008-09 at the mananthavady Govt college campus. College was inaugurated on 11.08.2008 by Sri MA Baby Minister of education,govt of Kerala in the presence of Sri AK Balan Minister of Electricity and welfare of scheduled tribes, Sri AP Abdullakutty MP, Sri KC Kunjhiraman MLA, Sri P Krishnaprasad MLA and Sri MD Shreyamskumar MLA. The college is affiliated with Kannur university and started with UG courses Bsc Electronics, Bsc Computer science and Bcom with Computer application. Later in 2014-15 Msc Electronics PG course was also included. The construction of the college building at paingatteri in Edavaka Grama panchayath was inaugurated on 05/12/2016 by prof C Ravindranath Minister of education, Govt of Kerala in the presence of Sri OR Kelu MLA and Dr P sureshkumar, Director of IHRD.
