St. Thomas' College, owned by the Archdiocese of Trichur is located in the heart of Thrissur city in Kerala State in India. This temple of learning was founded in 1889 by the first Vicar Apostolic of Trichur, Rt. Rev. Adolphus Edwin Medlycott, PhD. This college played a very important role in the development of Kerala. It is the first College established by the diocesan clergy in India. At a time when the cultural milieu of this country reserved the right and the opportunity of education to the savarnas, the sampannas and the samunnatas, St.Thomas made it accessible and available to all students, irrespective of racial, religious and regional discriminations. This premier center was raised to the rank of a Second Grade College for the service of the people in the field of higher education during the period of Rt. Rev. Dr. John Menachery, the Bishop and Vicar Apostolic of Thrissur in April 1919. The Catholic Church with her theological perspectives and ecclesiological legacy has always been the most acclaimed educational agency at the global level. St.Thomas College Thrissur is a classic representation of this evangelical vision and mission of the Catholic Church. The objectives of this College are intellectual excellence, imparting of skills and formation of good citizens of character and ability committed to nation building, Since 2002 the portals of this college are open to women as well. At present, St.Thomas' College is one of the largest and most reputed Arts and Science Colleges in Kerala. At the national level, St. Thomas' College has been accredited with a B + + stature in 2004 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, an autonomous organization instituted by the University Grants Commission
