Morning Star Home Science College for women, affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, was established in the year 1963 with the motto LEARN TO SERVE, SERVE WITH LOVE.

The Congregation of the Sisters of Nazareth who established this college with Diploma Courses in Home Science had the great mission of empowering women to be efficient and effective home makers as well as nation builders upholding the basic values of life. The Management of the College soon realized that a University affiliated degree course is also required to spread the idea of effective home making among young women thus giving a new outlook to women’s education. A self financing BSc Degree course in Home Science was started in 1968 affiliated to Kerala University. When Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam was established in 1983, the College came under the jurisdiction of this University. Pre-Degree courses and new degree courses were sanctioned later. Diploma Courses in Home Science are now offered by Nazareth Home Science Institute in the college campus itself and under the same Management.The college has earned reputation as a place of learning as well as a training centre with social outlook and community orientation. Our objective is that every student of this college strives sincerely to keep up the noble tradition of the college by pursuing their studies diligently and learn the art of selfless service.
