Al-Ameen college, Edathala is one of the many superlative institutions that can claim membership in the al-Ameen movement founded by Dr.Mumthaz Ahammed Khan, Bangalore. It was established in 1981 by the Al-Ameen Educational Trust, a charitable trust, registered in 1978 under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882.Though initially affiliated to the kerala university, the college was brought under the jurisdiction of the Mahatma Gandhi University with the establishment of the latter in 1983. Subsequent milestones on the path of progress include the affiliation tothe BCom Degree Course in 1991, and affiliation to the BSc Petro Chemicals in 1995.The affiliation to BA economics and BSc Physics courses were in 1998 and 2000 respectively while the MCom Course obtained affiliation in2001.The college was permanently affiliated to the MG University in 2004.
