The history of Dr. A. V. Baliga college of Commerce, Kumta is the history of translation of the distant dream into a practical proposition and eventual realization in 1966. If the late Shri L. S. Kamat and late Shri N.T.Hegde and other local luminaries put their heads together about the starting of a college, the first ever independent commerce college in the district, the late Dr. A. V. Baliga played the role of Providence in finding the wherewithal for the firm establishment of the college. Further, considering the growing importance of management education the horizontal expansion of the college was took place by establishing BBA (UG) course in June 1998 and M.Com (PG) Course in August 2010 on self financing basis.
