Welcome to Srinivas College of physiotherapy and Research Centre, Mangalore. Srinivas College of Physiotherapy started BPT in December 1993 in the cosmopolitan city of Mangalore, Karnataka. Our founder Late Sri. A.Shama Rao strongly believed that education can transform society fast and pay rich dividend. Srinivas college of Physiotherapy is located in scenic campus, situated at Pandeshwar, which is the heart of Mangalore city and is functioning with the aegis of Sri A.Raghavendra Rao, leading chartered accountant, a successful businessman, industrialist and educationalist and philanthropist.
We started MPT in 2000 and in 2008 Srinivas college of Physiotherapy was upgraded as a research center, which is the first center affiliated by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka. The college offers Bachelors, Master and Doctoral degree. The college provides excellent academic and clinical facilities to the student, it also has an active alumni has of over 1000 students across the world. The college has excellent infrastructure for academics, sports and other extracurricular activities.
For abroad placements of our students SCPTRC has tie up with Kare Partners, Inc. (2009), a Leading Health care provider in North Carolina, USA. SCPTRC is the first college to provide General Education Credit Course (2009) to meet the US equivalent educational credits in physiotherapy. SCPTRC also offers DSST examinations (2010) provided by prometric, USA.
Physical therapy, one of the fastest growing allied health areas of medicine, is the system of treatment of disease and disability using physical exercises, electrotherapeutic modalities and manual therapy techniques with referral and first contact clinical practice. It is the most important rehabilitative service needed in a community and a vital therapeutic supplement of the medical profession integral to the treatment of most patients.Physiotherapists are as essential as doctors in helping to recover and rehabilitate a patient. They must have a thorough knowledge of the human anatomy and the way the bones, muscles and nerves move. Physiotherapists treat a wide range of ailments, so specialization is possible in areas such as Pediatrics, Geriatrics, Orthopaedics, Sports Physical Therapy, Neurology, Clinical Electro Physiology, Cardiopulmonary Therapy, Hand Rehab, Biomechanics, Manual Therapy and Ergonomics.Physiotherapists have a wide range of scope in India as well as in abroad. Physiotherapists are appointed in government hospitals, corporate hospitals, primary health centres, educational institutions, research centers, community centers and in sports teams. The job of a physiotherapist, which is preventive, restorative and rehabilitative, is challenging but lucrative at the same time.
