FATHER MULLER CHARITABLE INSTITUTIONS had a humble beginning under a Banyan tree where Fr Augustus Muller S.J. Started dispensing Homoeopathic Medicines free of charge to the ailing poor. F.M.C.I. have been blessed with a succession of selfless, dedicated personnel, Medical and Nursing staff, Para-medical workers and others with a CARE for all, irrespective of religion, caste or community.

FATHER MULLER CHARITABLE INSTITUTION has been rendering comprehensive medical care with its motto 'Heal and Comport'. The entire Hospital Complex has now a total of 1050 beds devoted to the various specialities with well-developed modern facilities for treatment. A Leprosy Centre, a Rehabilitation Centre, a School of Nursing, a College of Nursing, B.Sc. in Physiotherapy, B.Sc. in Radiography, B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory technology, Hospital Aids training, M.Sc. in Hospital Management, Undergraduate (MBBS) and Post Graduation (MD/MS) in modern medicine, and Homoeopathic Medical College and a Homoeopathic Pharmaceutical Unit are some of the major units at F.M.C.I. A Centre for de-addiction and rehabilitation of alcoholics is established with in-patient facilities for 40 beds.

Fr Augustus Muller was the grandson of Mr. Augustine Muller, who was the teacher of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann founder of Homoepathic system of Medicine when the latter was at School. No wonder, Fr Augustus Muller fell in love with Homoeopathy and popularized it not only in this district but also all over the country. Fr Muller, the first Indian Repertorian, has authored many Homoeopathic books useful for practitioners and students.

Despite the popularity Homoeopathy enjoys in our country as is evident by the continued increase in the number of Registered Homoeopathic practitioners as well as recognized Homoeopathic Medical Colleges in the country, we find that a large number of practitioners are not able to practice the Science of Homoeopathy as per Hahnemann's teachings. Fr Muller Homoepathic Medical College, established in 1985, has taken up measures through a scientifically planned and well equipped institution so that properly trained, professionally competent, committed and dedicated Homoeopathic Physicians are put in the field. The example of Father Augustus Muller, a true Homoeopath and other dedicated workers who followed him in his great tradition of selfless service to suffering humanity, helps to instill in the learner similar spirit essential to the CARE of the patient as well as of the Science and part of Homoeopathy.

In the year 1980, Father Muller Charitable Institution celebrated its centenary and to commemorate this event a decision was taken to start a Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital. After a thorough study the College was actually started in the year 1985 to conduct BHMS course. Now the College has been recognized for M.D. (Hom) course by C.C.H. & R.G.U.H.S. in seven subject.

Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College has completed 24 years of its successful and meaningful existence in the field of Homoeopathic Education and Practice. The students who pass out from this college have been much sought after professionals both in the practice and education by Homoeopathic Institutions in the country.
