Visveswarapura College of Science was established in the year 1966 to fulfil the long desired ambitions of Vokkaligara Sangha to establish Institutions to serve the cause of education. Ever since the establishment of this college the management is doing its best to provide quality education, to provide adequate opportunities to students for all round personality development, to impart rich culture and heritage, to imbibe sprit of communal harmony by participating in community development programmes,to acquire sustainable skills for self employment, to train students to face challenges of higher education. The College has both Grant in Aid and self financing courses and is affiliated to Bangalore University. University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi has recognised the college under 2f and 12B for academic infrastructure development grants. The college has been accredited with B grade by NAAC. Further, the college being a pure science college without Arts & Commerce streams has serene atmosphere for studies., The college offers Pre-university courses with PCMB (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & Biology) and PCME (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics & Electronics) Combinations. Under Graduate Programmes with eight combinations and two post graduate programmes one in Chemistry(Inorganic, Organic & Analytical specialization) and other in Biotechnology.The institution has fifteen departments consisting of nearly fifty qualified and experienced faculty and good number of administrative and supporting staff.
