About VV Pura Evening College of Arts Commerce, Bangalore

In the year 1966 the Vokkaligara Sangha, the management of our College, found that the growing city of Bangalore consisted of vast sections of rural people working for various organisations were deprived of educational opportunities. The Sangha was moved by a noble intention of providing education to this under privileged sections of the society and established V.V.Pura Evening College. From 1966 onwards Vishweshwarapura Evening College (popularly known as V.V.Pura Evening College) has been rendering meaningful and invaluable service to the under privileged sections of the society who have to discontinue their education for various reasons by way of providing higher education as a composite degree college till the year 2002 when it became an independent degree college.

Right from inception, the college has been concentrating on providing education in undergraduate courses in the stream of Arts & Commerce.The city of Bangalore caters to the need of the affluent sections of the society by providing all opportunities for higher education.V.V.Pura Evening College has been the hope of economically and educationally under privileged who are working for livelihood in small jobs.The College has been admitting students who have discontinued their education for many years for various reasons and who have been denied a chance in other institutions for want of merit and those who cannot afford to pay hefty fee along with the urban elite. Thus the college has been doing a yeomen service to the neglected lot as Christ’s saying goes.
