Vijaya Teachers College is one of the institutions run by the prestigious managing committee “BHS Higher Education Society”, Jayanagar, Bangalore. Our management committee has the rich experience of administering the educational institutions since 1942, with the motto “excellence in education”. The BHSHES managing committee at present is running 13 educational institutions in the city of Bangalore and two in the rural area, T. Narsipura near Mysore. Only five of these institutions are government aided and the rest are self-financing institutions. The management has a secular outlook in running the institutions which has made all the institutions to serve all sections of the society.
Vijaya Teachers College was established in August 1960. It has permanent affiliation from Bangalore University and recognized by National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE). The college is recognized by University Grants Commission and listed under 2F as per UGC norms.

On the recommendations of Human Resource Development, Government of India, the Karnataka State Government upgraded our college as College of Teacher Education (CTE) in 1997. The college is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with B++ grade.

Vijaya Teachers College was established in 1960. It is one of the 13 institutions run by BHS Higher Education Society, Jayanagar, Bangalore. The college is situated in Jayanagar 4th Block, a prime locality in city which is easily accessible from main Bus station and city Railway station, as well as from different parts of the city.The college offers one year B.Ed. course for candidates aspiring to become secondary school teachers. The college has permanent affiliation to Bangalore Univesity, is recognized by National Council for Teacher Education and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council.The faculty of the college includes 2 Professors and 5 Lecturers. The pre-service course is offered to graduates with Arts and Science subjects, which compliment the secondary school subjects. The Government allots 75 seats for the successful candidates of the common entrance examination for Karnataka students and remaining 25 are management quota seats which are given to merited candidates among the non - Karnataka candidates and others.

The college has a spacious building with all the required infra structural facilities for students and staff. The college has two demonstration schools under the same management and has good linkage with 10-15 high schools to conduct practice in teaching.On the recommendation of Ministry for Human Resource Development, Government of India, the State Government upgraded Vijaya Teachers College as College of Teacher Education in 1997. Since then the college has been conducting in-service education programmes for secondary school teachers. The programmes are financed by the Government. The college management has provided the lodging facilities for the in-service teachers who attend the training programme. So far 6915 teachers have been covered under in-service programme in various school subjects.The college faculty is actively involved in extension services to orient teachers at primary and secondary level through DSERT, NCERT, Head Master's Association, Primary Teachers Association, Secondary School Teacher Association and other NGO's.The performance of the students in this college has been consistently good in the last 47 years with an average of 87.75%. The college has a proposal to commence need based post graduate course and short term courses for working teachers from the next academic year.
