NMKRV College for Women, started, as a junior college in 1971 is a pioneer in the field of women’s education in the state of Karnataka. Spread over a sprawling four acres, the college is situated at a vantage point in the cosmopolitan Jayanagar. With thirty plus years of experience in educating young women, the college boasts of several unique achievements. In the year 1979, Journalism was introduced for the B.A course with Optional English and Psychology for the first time in the Bangalore University in the college. Now, Journalism is offered with the Women’s Studies & Psychology or Optional language. The college is also proud to be the first and only one to introduce Women’s Studies at an Under Graduate level

Autonomy to the college simply means academic freedom. This freedom has enabled the college to make teaching an interactive process with innovative teaching methods. The college being accredited by NAAC, is an added advantage for the degree awarded by the college which is endorsed by the Bangalore University will be recognized world over.

Institute of Sanskrit Studies, R V Institute of Gandhian Studies, Suchethana- the Personality Development Centre and the popular dance troupe Nupur, music troupe Ninaada and Natya –the theatre club coupled with a host of other courses with innovative combinations like Women’s Studies, Journalism, Applied botany, Travel and Tourism, PG courses in Women’s Studies and Organic Chemistry.

The college creates leaders of young women, preparing them well for the life ahead in the turbulent world, by offering the right amount of freedom, coupled with attention to their activities. To enhance and enrich talents of students in varied fields, every department has a forum for itself. These fora help students to exchange ideas, information, etc. The fora organise seminars, workshops etc. regularly. They also conduct inter-class and inter-collegiate competitions annually The students elect their office bearers democratically. They have an equal share in decision making which concern student activities and welfare.
