About Karnataka

Karnataka houses the Silicon Valley. It is the most preferred state for management and engineering education. There are 186 engineering, 39 medical and 41 dental colleges in the state. It is home to some of the premier educational and research institutions of the country such as the Indian Institute of Science, the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore; the National Institute of Technology Karnataka and the National Law School of India University. Karnataka has 481 degree colleges affiliated with one of the universities in the state i.e Bangalore University, Gulbarga University, Karnatak University, Kuvempu University, Mangalore University and Mysore University.

The state conducts two major entrance examinations for admissions in engineering and medical streams- KCET and COMEDK. KCET is a national level undergraduate medical and engineering entrance exam conducted by Karnataka Examination Authority. COMEDK UGET is conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) for admissions to undergraduate Engineering, Medical and Dental programmes.

IIM-Bangalore, National School of Business (NSB), IFIM Business School, Xavier Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship (XIME), Presidency Business School, Acharya Institute of Management and Sciences (AIMS), Institute of Business Management & Technology (IBMT), National Institute of Technology (NIT) Surathkal, SDM Institute of Management Development, Alliance Business Academy, are some of the top notch management colleges in Karnataka.
