J.N. College, Dhurwa, also known as Jagannath Nagar College, established in 1972, is a general degree college in Dhurwa, Ranchi. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate Hindi, History & Political Science courses in arts, commerce and sciences.

Initially started on 11th April, 1972 with the limited goal of imparting higher education to the employees and the wards of the company, it has since spread its wings manifold in almost all the branches of learning including vocational training to the students empowering them to face the ever changing needs of industry in the country.

The College was first started as an evening College which later on was converted into a day College. It is a Co-education College having a large number of girl students on its rolls. The College is fortunate in having an assemblage of qualified and committed teachers who are forever engaged in the pursuit of knowledge and distributing the fruits of it among the students.

Situated amidst the eye-catching lovely plateau of Chhotanagpur in the campus of Heavy Engineering Corporation Ltd., the College was established on 11th April 1972. It was the dream of the local inhabitants and employees of the HEC ltd.

It was the special care and effort taken by Brig. B. N. Upadhayaya, Town Administration, HEC in forming Governing Body of the College comprised of administrators and academicians of repute. The College boasts of a positive educational environment where maintenance of discipline is the chief motivating force. It is currently running as a constituent unit of Ranchi University. The College is endeavouring to improve opportunities for the Backward Classes, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes and other classes in the field of education. Not only education but also through other aspects of education like NCC, NSS, Sports and other Cultural Activities, the College has been contributing to the all-round development of students significantly. Well equipped with educational facilities this College is imparting quality education up to Degree Honours standard in the Faculty of Science, Commerce and Arts.
