The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences was established in 1972 at BIT Mesra and is a robust scientific community with highly qualified and competent academic staff, a large number of postgraduate students, research fellows and visiting scientists. It is well equipped for both teaching and research activities, which are undertaken across the whole spectrum of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Department encourages and supports studies involving a range of research strategies and has particular expertise and experience in both quantitative and qualitative research methods including studies of innovation.
Programmes
Undergraduate Programmes
The department conducts four-year undergraduate programme (B.Pharm.) in Pharmaceutical Sciences. The courses are recognized by the UGC, Pharmacy Council of India and AICTE.
Postgraduate Programmes
Two-year postgraduate programme (M.Pharm.)
Specializations offered: Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmacology and Pharmacognosy.
The syllabi of the courses are updated from time to time to incorporate recent developments achieved in these fields in National and International Scenario and to cater to the requirements of the Industries and various academic bodies. The courses that are held in collaboration with Lotus Clinical Research Academy (LCRA), Bangalore are-
M.Pharm. in Clinical Research (30 seats)
M.S. in Clinical Research and Pharmacovigilance
Post Graduate Diploma in Bioanalytical Techniques (30 seats)
Doctoral Programmes
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences offers doctoral programmes in all disciplines. It also provides facilities for Doctoral Research in various fields of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Department has modern and sophisticated laboratory and workshop facilities for this purpose. More than 68 students are registered for Ph.D. in various disciplines in the Department currently.
