For the need of local resident, RNYM college was established on 10th August 1985 at Barhi. This college is recognized under section 2 f and 12 B of the UGC Act, 1956. At start, this college was known as Barhi degree college, which was later changed into Ram Narayan Memorial College in 1993 , on the name of famous social worker Late Ram Narayan Yadav. Today this college is the only recognized degree level college of Barhi sub-division. Now a day, this college has become educational boom for the local villagers around Barhi., From the start, the result of this college is highly encouraging, which is increasing day by day. The number of students is also rising with the time. Today, this college is considered as one of the top colleges in Vinoba Bhave University., This is the first Degree college of Jharkhand which do not provide inter level courses. Here Courses are provided in the field of Arts and Commerce. From 2015-2016, C.B.C.S choice based Credit System is implemented in the college, for which 3 year degree courses is divided into 6 semester. In spite of limited resources, today this college is taking a positive growth under the guidance of local MLA Mr. Manoj Kumar Yadav and the principal Dr. Bimal Kishore. Together with the support of parents and students, we hope the success to continue forever. The College takes special care for the personality development of the students. For this, the institution will be providing ample opportunities by way of involving them in various Social, Cultural & Literary activities besides N.S.S. & Sports.
