It Is Against Background That Some Local Imaginative Person Successfully Enlisted Sympathy Of Local Politicians And Memory Of The Tribal India Freedom Fighter-Tana Bhagat This Tana Bhgat College, Ghaghra Has Been Established In 22/07/1982.

Ghaghra Is Located At A Distance Of 30 Km From Gumla On Gumla- Lohardaga Road. The Population Of Ghaghra Anchal Consists Predominantly Scheduled Tribes, Mostly Oraons, Mondas, Mahli, Cheek Baraik, Birhor, Asur Ete. Forest And Hilly Areas Of Ghaghra And Bishunpur Have Been The Place Of Living Of Primitive Tribes — Asur, Birhor Etc. Ghaghra And Bhishunpur Are The Prominent Tribal Blocks Of Gumla District. Very Small Town Ghaghra Is Also The Block Headquarter. Young Boys And Glrls Of The Area Find It Rather Difficult To Continue Their Higher Studies After Intermediate “Education, There Is Absolutely No Such Facility Available In The Town Or And Other Nearby Place Within A Radius Of 20 Km. The Nearest Degree College Of Gumla And Lohardaga Are At Considerable Distence And Both Overcrowded. Hence The Need And Justification For The Establishment Of College At Ghaghra To Provide Post Intermediate Education To Young Aspirants Was Obviously Desirable. Ghaghra Is The Centre Of Five Blocks- Ghaghra, Bishunpur, Gumla, Chainpur And Sisai. There Are 22 High Schools Within The Area Of 35 Sq Km And 15 Are +2 High Schools. There Are Also Five Intermediate Colleges At Ghaghra The Closest Degree Colleges Are At Gumla And Lohardaga Both 30 Lobs Far South And North From Ghaghra . In These Constituent College, Admissions Are Held On Merit Basis. Due To Village Background The Tribal Boys And Girls Of This Area Can Not Complete The Entrance Test. Those Who Can Manage To Go Through Face Difficulties To Meet The Expenses Of The Admission And Hostel Or Any Other Provision Of Lodging.

Over The Years, The Founders Of This College Late Bhukhla Bhagat, Late Baijnath Bhagat, Anant Kumar Pandey Etc Have Somehow Kept It Alive And Going Efforts Of All Those Who Promoted The Idea And Worked Silently To Give It A Shape Is Laudable. When Fully Developed Into A Multi Faculty Institution, It Will Go A Long Way To Meet A Much Felt Need Of Bringing Modem Higher Education And Enlightenment Within The Reach Of Average Common Men Mostly Belonging To Scheduled/ Tribes, Primitive Hilly Tribes, OBCs And Other Downtrodden Class Of The Area, Presently, It Provides Opportunities For Higher Education To The Most Unprivileged Boys And Girls.
