Chatra College, Chatra emerged on 1st July, 1961 under the illustrious leadership of Dr.Keshari Nandan Sahay Founder Principal Chatra College, Chatra to facilitate the students of this rural and backward socially, economically & educationally area of Jharkhand then Bihar gain higher & qualitative education. It is a constituent unit of Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag. It is located off the main town at Chatra(a new district created on 31st March, 1991, a town of sylvan & religious surrounding and noiseless tranquility in Chatra Chouparan road at NH-99 .The place of Chatra and its nearby area especially Bhadrakali at Itkhori & Kauleshwari at Huntergunj is beautiful confluence of Hinduism,Jainism & Budhism. Prior to this, Chatra was a sub-division of Hazaribag district. It is about 65 km away from Hazaribag, Headquarters of North Chotanagpur Division and approximately 150 km from Ranchi, Capital city of Jharkhand State. The establishment of this college brought significant tremendous changes in the educational map/paradigm of this thickly & densely SC populated area. It is spreading & illuminating the light & essence of higher education not only in the district but also in the whole large region of Chatra Parliamentary Constituency. Chatra College, Chatra has a record of many great & excellent rare performances in all past different academic sessions of the College under Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag, Jharkhand.
