Background, academic mission, and departmental profile
Playing a pivotal role to enable the Country and State of Madhya Pradesh in particular in developing high caliber trained manpower in the frontier areas of Mechanical Engineering to take up challenges of the industry in the fields of Manufacturing Innovations.
Our mission is to make the proposed Department a “Centre of Excellence” in the field of Mechanical Engineering envisaged as a Department with highly developed educational infrastructure, excellent faculty with international exposure in modern technologies and active association with the relevant industries. Active interaction between industries and academics will develop the personality of engineers to become the future leader of industrial establishments. The main objectives of Mechanical Engineering Department are as follows:
• To provide quality education to undergraduate students in the field of Mechanical Engineering at a level comparable to the best.
• To develop overall personality of the students.
• To develop Mechanical Engineering Department as “Centre of Excellence”.
The Mechanical Engineering Department has been established in session 2008-09 with intake as 30 (thirty) students. The department has initiated to plan with following laboratories:
• Workshop
• Thermodynamics
• Computer Aided Drafting
• Strength of Materials
• Fluid Mechanics & Machinery
• Measurement & Control
• Theory of Machine
• I.C. Engine
• Heat & Mass Transfer
• Advanced Machining/ CAM
• Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
• Dynamics of Machines
In the curriculum focus has been laid down on emerging areas of Manufacturing Technology. Thus the efforts have been made to equip all the laboratories with the equipments by 2009-10 and emphasis has been focused on the equipments of Robotics, CNC Machine Tools and CIMS for the department.
Department of Mechanical Engineering has continued with vigorous zeal and impact with increasing the intake of B. Tech. level to 60. Two years M. Tech. program in Manufacturing Technology has also been initiated by admitting part time teacher candidate during session 2009 – 10.
