The Indian Institute of Technology Jammu (IIT Jammu) is a public research university located in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir, India.The Institute came into existence in 2016 when a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Department of Higher Education, Government of Jammu & Kashmir and Department of Higher Education, MHRD, Government of India, was signed, setting the ball rolling to set up an IIT campus at village Jagti, Tehsil Nagrota at Jammu. The State Government has provided the land, measuring 159 hectares for the establishment of Indian Institute of Technology at Jammu., IIT Jammu will start functioning this year itself from a Temporary campus within Jammu city. The total intake in the 1st year will be 90, 30 each in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.
