Located in Government Degree College Bishnah is located in Jammu, Jammu and Kashmir and affiliated with University of Jammu. The college was established to offer students ample of courses for learning and training basis of a particular field of the subject. The objective of the college is to direct students towards their targeted goal., Govt. Degree College Bishnah is situated in Jammu in Jammu & Kashmir state of India. and it is affiliated to University of Jammu. GDCB, Jammu offers 10 courses across 3 streams namely Arts, Science, Education and across 1 degrees like BA.Hostel facility is not available for its students. Additional campus facilities such as Canteen, Computer Lab, CSC, Library, Medical Facilities, Cls. Room, Grounds, WiFi are also there., Education is the fundamental mechanism for social transformation through the creation of more opportunities. In this sphere, the Department of Higher Education has made a landmark contribution towards the economic development & social change through infrastructure building, its restructuring and expansion. In the current scenario , as per report of National Knowledge Commission there is an imminent need to reform & change our higher education system to meet the aspiration of the present day youth.In pursuit of these ideals, the govt, of J&K instrumented the establishment of the Govt. Degree College .Bishnah vide Govt, order No.HE/Plan-H/305/06 dated 27/12/2007 and was inaugurated on 12th June, 2008 by the then Hon'ble Minister for Higher Education Sh. Gulchain Singh Charak. At present the college is housed in the premises of Govt. Hr. Sec. School Boys Bishnah. The town Bishnah is about 25 kms away to the south from the main city of Jammu and covers 117 adjoining villages having a total population of around 1 lac approximately. Govt, has identified 82.8 kanals of land at village Chack Avtara, Bishnah as construction site for the college., The college was initiated with an encouraging strength of 159 student covering-both males and females-in the very first academic session & is expected to show rising enrolment with the successful completion of 2nd session., The college is affiliated to the University of Jammu & presently running only Arts stream with 09 subjects covering 09 subject combinations with emphasis on research activities & conscious effort to attract & retain talented students through regular influx of talented teaching faculty, monitoring &upgradation of elements of infrastructure such as library, internet connectivity etc. There is enough space for restructuring and expansion that provides an atmosphere for students with choice and creates competition among them., The college is pursuing every effort for building accountability to society and is a genuine effort to transform promises into reality as a celebrated temple of learning..
