Government Degree College, Gurez organized a plantation drive in collaboration with Forestry, Horticulture and Agriculture Departments to make the drive a success. On this occasion a number of plants including saplings of Apple, Hazzle nut, popular and Walnut were planted at Dak Bunglow, Tourist Reception Centre, Police Station, Compartment No. 57 and Horticulture Park at Dawar Gurez.Principle of the College, Prof. Gh. Qadir Lone urged the participants in the drive to take a hyperactive stand for the preservation of nature in this most beautiful valley of Kashmir. He said, “Our existence on the earth depends on the presentation of nature and this drive is a step towards that end. We have to take a collective stand to safeguard our natural resources. The snow clad mountains of Gurez and the sweet waters of Kishan Ganga River are crying for a loving approach by man. Plantation of trees would be a token of man’s love for nature”.
