Department of Civil Engineering. The Department focuses on advanced research and education in the broad areas of Geotechnical, Structural, Transportation, and Water Resources & Environmental Engineering. The Department is within the Division of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.
The Department is recognized as a Center for Advanced Studies (CAS) by the University Grants Commission of India, a Center of Excellence in Water Resources by the Central Board for Irrigation and Power, and has been recognized by the Department of Science and Technology with funds under the FIST program. An Indo-French Cell Water Sciences has been functioning in the department under an MoU with the French Government since 2001.
