      The flax plant (Iinium usitattisimum) has benefitted humanity for times immemorial. Its fibre has been a rich resource for manufacturing linen textiles. Oil derived from its seeds had been a liquid of choice for varnish and lacquer compositions. Recently it has been established that flax seed oil is the richest vegetable source of alpha- Linolenic acid (ALA) - the plant based omega -3-fatty acid which is essential to our health.
