The government college of Pharmacy was established in the year 2005 at Rohru, Distt. Shimla. The college offers four year B. Pharm. course since its inception. It is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi & Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi and affiliated to H P Technical University (HPTU), Hamirpur., The college is first Pharmacy College in Himachal and the only government college in the state. The college was established in order to impart technical education in the area of pharmacy to Himachali aspirants especially those who belong to remote rural areas keeping in view the immense employment scope in various sectors like academics, administration and pharmaceutical industry. The foundation stone of the college was laid by Sh. Virbhadra Singh, Hon’ble Chief Minister of the state on 6th September 2006. The current strength of students in the college is about 175 with a sanctioned intake of 40 students. The institute is experiencing a fast academic growth and imparts quality based pharmacy education. The success of the college is amply reflected by the results and excellent placement record., The college is recently shifted to its new campus at Anubasa. The building is spread over an area of about 3 acres and hosts all required infrastructural facilities in its sprawling campus. The facilities include a five storey academic block having state- of - the- art labs, modern class rooms, stores, and library; administrative block housing offices, faculty rooms, auditorium; guest house & dispensary block; girl’s hostel; principal and faculty residences, herbal garden etc. The college have all the equipments including sophisticated instruments required for effective pharmaceutical teaching and training. The library of the college houses rich collection of books and journals as per the requirements of the regulatory bodies. The energetic, dedicated and well qualified faculty of the college leave no stone unturned in imparting quality education and much needed counselling to the students. The faculty members are also engaged in utility based research. The academic and allied activities are well supported by a good number of technical and administrative staff., The college maintains an outstanding record of academic excellence. A good number of students qualify graduate pharmacy aptitude test (GPAT, earlier known as GATE) which is a requirement to get admission and fellowship in M. Pharm. course. The teaching and research activities are undertaken across the whole spectrum of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The alumni of the college are well placed in varying areas of pharmacy including academics, administration, pharmaceutical industries and some of them are pursuing higher education in various reputed institutes across the country and abroad.
