This institute was established in the year 1962 with two trades.But now after successfully functioning for 52 years, it has risen to the status of well-reputed Govt. Industrial Training Institute of the State with 21 trades of CTS consisting of 52 units having seating capacity of 1272 trainees in various Engineering & Non-Engineering Trades. Govt. ITI Shamshi has also been upgraded under VTIP SCHEME in electrical sector with general up gradation of ITI with Central Grant of 3.5 crores in the year 2006-07 with 75:25 ratio. ITI Shamshi has been up graded as A-Grade Govt. ITI w.e.f. 09 Feb 2010.
