The Municipal Institute of Medical Education and Research is dedicated to improving the general health and well being of the citizens of this country, and Surat in particular. In pursuit of this goal, the medical college is committed to excellence in medical education. We pledge to place special emphasis on educating and training physicians and allied health professionals dedicated to two distinct missions The Institution will work in concert with public and private organizations to attain its goal. We pledge our dedication to equitable representation of every group of people in our organization as defined by the Constitution of India (including NRI's) and to conduct ourselves ethically. We are also committed to safeguard the interests of our faculty and other employees at the Institute along with our valued students.
The medical college will be temporarily housed at Piplod. The departments will shift to the permanent site at Umarwada in the Month of November. However, to avoid any inconvenience to the students, every facility has been provided to the students in the structures adjoining the medical college. The temporary site has the teaching block, with the Anatomy, Physiology and Biophysics, and Biochemistry Departments housed in the four floors of the college. It has Departmental lecture halls with a capacity of over 150 students with a central lecture hall for the first MBBS with capacity to accommodate over 200 students. Separate common rooms for the girls and boys and a canteen has been provided in the main building. The main building also has the departmental offices, the labs and the museums.

The Library and the Girl's and Boys reading rooms are housed in the adjoining structures. The library has the latest editions of the worlds most popular Medical Textbooks and Reference books. The library also has the computer facility with the latest multimedia soft wares on medical subjects, and an Internet connection to which all the computers have been networked (the process is on and it is expected to be over well in time, before the admissions).

The Girls Hostel and the Boys Hostel stand facing the college with separate blocks for the boys and the girls with their respective wardens. The food served in the mess would be vegetarian as well as non-vegetarian, each prepared in separate blocks. The cost of breakfast and two regular meals is estimated at around Rs. 800 a month (subject to revision) and the mess will be run on no-profit no-loss basis. Snacks can be had from the canteen as well as the mess, against cash payment.
