Kaka P.S.Tolani, founder president of Gandhidham Collegiate Board running its 30th academic year 2003-04.The History of its last 30 years unfolds the ups and downs of the academy and reminisces. The welcome address by Rev. Kaka Tolani on the inauguration of Tolani Commerce College in 1973, where he had stated, “Friends this is not all. We do not believe in haphazard planning or merely constructing half a dozen or a dozen buildings to house the institutions. In fact our aim is to make Adipur a centre of attraction in the field of higher education, with as many educational institutions as would, and in due course, establish a small university., There were not mere words spoken by the great man, but efforts have been made to realize his dream in to reality by late Kaka`s able, efficient, devotee, torchbearer daughters and the present president of Gandhidham collegiate board, Ms. Jamvanti H. Kanal and acting president Ms. Anjana Hazare., Today the “Vidya Mandir” not only consists of enormous skeletons of many colleges and institutions but has become a “Mandir” to impart knowledge and would the future of the coming generations. Established in 1973 with 150 Students on roll, Tolani Commerce College, today has the largest number of students enrolled in single faculty, in whole of the “Vidya Mandir” Campus in commerce faculty total number of students admitted for academic year 2002-03 is 2087 at under graduate and 200 at post graduate level., Though the stepping stone to the institution started with principal subject Advanced Accountancy & Auditing and one subsidiary subject of Secretarial Practice in 1973, today it has accelerated the space of success and now offers a various subsidiary subjects like Secretarial Practice, Advance Business Management, Advance Statistics and Computer in Business Operation with Advanced Accountancy as principal subject to facilitate and provide wide range of choice not only to students but also to meet the need of the day., In the year 1984 one more feather in the cap was added by bringing a recognize coaching centre of the institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India – Kolkata for professional course of I.C.W.A. The regular coaching in provided for two groups of intermediate after graduation. And another star added was the post graduate section M-Com., (Costing) in June 1988 affiliated to Gujarat University.
