IIT Gandhinagar (IITGn) is one of the new IITs started in the academic year 2008-09. The Institute is located at Chandkheda, which is about a 15-minute drive from both Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Currently the Institute is functioning from the premises of the Vishwakarma Government Engineering College. Tech. programme in Chemical, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and an M. Tech. programme in Chemical and Civil Engineering. Starting July 2011, the Institute is introducing a futuristic undergraduate curriculum keeping in mind the urgent need to develop engineers and problem solvers for the 21st century.The Institute currently has 491 students (437 undergraduate, 17 M. Tech. and 37 Ph. D.), 51 faculty members and 56 staff members., IIT Gandhinagar was founded in 2008 and is located in Palaj, Gandhinagar, Gujarat on the banks of river Sabarmati. IITGN is rated India’s first 5-star GRIHA LD (Green) campus for minimizing the negative impact on the environment. The campus has been declared India’s first 5-star campus for ensuring food safety and promoting healthy eating., The Institute follows the highest standards of safety for its employees engaged in construction activities.
