Sardar Vallabhai Patel stands out as an eminent political leader, an ardent social reformer and an able administrator. He was instrumental in execution of Gandhian thought. The Sardar is remembered today for his contribution to National Integration by accession of over 500 Princely States, as the first Deputy Prime Minister of India and the Founding Father of the administrative frame work embodied by IAS and IPS civil servants., As a tribute to such a visionary statesman, Charutar Vidya Mandal CVM, under the leadership of Dr CL Patel, decided to establish the first and only Research Centre dedicated to studies on the Sardars Life and Works in the year 2008. Centre for Studies and Research on Life and Works of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel CERLIP came into existence with a brainstorming session attended by the Vice Chancellors of almost all State Universities of Gujarat., Vision, The vision of CERLIP is “To create an enlightened awareness about the unexplored aspects of human search for freedom and social upliftment as evident in India's freedom struggle.”, Mission, To realise this vision by facilitating research on fundamental socio-political, historical and culture issues related with the Life and Works of the Sardar., To design and implement the academic programmes leading to MPhil and PhD degrees in various disciplines., To support and facilitate research projects undertaken by Research Fellows from India and abroad., To create a body of knowledge in the form of printed resources as well as audio-visual and digital resources., To undertake research in the form of comparative studies focusing on the contribution of major figures such as Mahatma Gandhi, Pt Nehru, Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar etc in relation to the Life and Works of the Sardar.
