List of facilities available at Physical Research Laboratory PRL, Department of Space, Ahmedabad for students.

PRL has always maintained an up-to-date library. The library which started from just a single room in 1948, is now spread over four campuses - the PRL main campus, the Thaltej Campus, the Udaipur Solar Observatory and the Mt. Abu Infrared Observatory. The library endeavors to facilitate the students and scientists in their research pursuits. There are about 55,000 documents in electronic and paper formats, which include books, journals, audio visual documents as well as reports, theses and reprints of PRL authors. It has access to about 167 international and national journals which includes 158 online journals. In addition, PRL staff and students have access to AGU Digital Library, GSA Archive, Lecture Notes in Physics, PROLA and SPIE Digital Library.
Sports facilities are available in the campus. Annual Sports event is held in the month of December in every year
Good transportation facilities for its students, staff members and visiting guests.
Proper healthcare arrangements are done by college. Proper Medical Facilities are available
24-hours internet access for all. Wi-Fi for all
The Computer Centre is located in the main campus of the Laboratory. It is spread over 4000 square feet of plinth area with centrally air-conditioned environment. The main objective of the centre is to provide services such as networking, email (with protection against virus and spam), printing, back-up and maintaining the computational environment for scientific and engineering research.
Computer Centre is equipped with Vikram-100 High Performance Compute Cluster having 100TF sustained performance. Computer Centre has SGI server having 16 Intel Xeon processors, 24GB RAM, with 25TB disk capacity. Computer centre has also IBM Power7 4 CPU based server providing additional computing power. The Internet connectivity is 1Gbps through National Knowledge Network Optical Fiber Cable, and 34Mbps through BSNL Optical Fiber Cable. It is operational in failsafe and load balance mode. The connectivity between Udaipur Solar Observatory (USO), and PRL Main Campus is 50 Mbps through BSNL Optical Fiber Cable. Mt.Abu is also connected to PRL main campus over 2 Mbps MLLN link provided by BSNL. PRL Thaltej Campus is connected over a Optical Fiber 100 Mbps through BSNL. Computer Centre has started to leverage benefit of the virtualization technology for server consolidation. Internet Servers (DNS, Web, Mail, Library, Proxy, VPN, EGPS, etc.) and Intranet Servers (EDMS, DNS, Network Software License Server etc.) are migrated to virtual environment. Open Source (KVM) and Commercial (VMware vSphere) software are used to setup the virtual environment. This setup also provides redundancy as now services are no longer tied to a specific physical server. In case of a scheduled or unscheduled downtime, virtual machines can be manually or automatically migrated from one physical machine to another.

Numerical and visualization application softwares like Lahey Fortran95, IBM XLF, IMSL, IDL, Mathematica, Matlab, Sigma Plot, Maple, Data Explore etc. are available as per needs of the scientific community.
