The Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) is a premier institution fully devoted to the service of plastic industries since three decades. This is an autonomous institute under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Govt. of India and is associated with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). It is one of the centers of excellence providing advanced scientific and technical data pertaining to plastic industries. CIPET having its headquarters at Chennai in Tamil Nadu State, has eleven regional extension centers,
ince the establishment in 1968, Central Institute of Plastics Engineering and Technology (CIPET) has been offering various courses to suit the needs of the Plastics industry. Now CIPET has transformed with the concept of ATR (Academic, Technology Support & Research) by offering Doctoral, Postgraduate, Graduate, Post Diploma and Diploma Programs. CIPET is rendering courses under its four tier structure and the centres are specialized for a particular tier Programs. The 15 Centres of the Institute are responsible for academic activities, which include classroom Teaching, Professional and Practical training in State of Art Laboratories and Workshops, Research and Industrial consultancy. The courses of study are organized through semester programs. An academic year consists of two semesters. The odd semester begins in August and the even semester in February. The medium of instruction is English. The academic atmosphere at CIPET is a rare blend of modern day technical skills with a traditional emphasis on imparting technical knowledge. The faculty as well as students who have qualified from CIPET Centres has always made the country proud through their outstanding achievements and leadership qualities. CIPET has demonstrated a fine example of interaction with the industry in the country, through consultancy services offered by the faculty. Innovative ideas are put to practice in many projects sponsored by different organizations in India. Doctoral Programme in Polymer Science, Material Science and Plastics Engineering are offered in affiliation with Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Utkal University and Anna University. The academic programs leading to Masters, Bachelors degree Programs are affiliated to Anna University-Chennai, Biju Patnaik University of Technology- Rourkela, U.P. Technical University- Lucknow, Babasaheb Bhimarao Ambedkar Bihar University-Muzffarpur & Gujarat Technological University- Gujarat. CIPET offers the following academic programs exclusively in the areas of Plastics Engineering and Technology.
