Model Institute of Engineering and Technology setup in 1998 is the first private engineering college in the State of J&K. It is part of the MIER Group of Institutions established in 1936, the oldest private educational enterprise in the State of J&K.

The college is affiliated to Jammu university. The trust is founded by a group of well known educationists who have made significant contribution in the field of education in the region. The trust is named by a governing body headed by Th. Gulchain singh charak, chairman of The Trust, who is a well known educationist and politician.

Baldev Institute of Management, Technology and Sciences (BIMTAS) was established in 2008 under the aegis of Chenab Education Trust. The Institute is named after late Thakur Baldev Singh Chib, and eminent educationist and a saintly and social figure who dedicated his life for the cause of humanity and upliftment of the poor and down –trodden people. The Institute is affiliated to the University of Jammu.

Trikuta Degree College and Trikuta College of Computer Science and Management Studies, among the eight colleges under the aegis of "Shri Sain Charitable Trust", promises to provide service in the field of education. The Govt. Degree College Kulgam, a co-educational and rural college was established in the year 2004 in four rooms of Govt.
