Bhaktavatsalam Memorial College for Women was founded by Bhaktavatsalam Memorial Trust in memory of one the greatest sons of Bharat, Late Shri. M. Bhaktavatsalam, the former Chief Minister of Tamilnadu. It started functioning in the academic year 1993-1994. The college is situated in Periyar Nagar, Korattur, Chennai- 600 080. Late Shri. M.Bhaktavatsalam, a great statesman, an erudite scholar, statesman, a legal luminary, a patriot was deeply devoted to the cause of women’s education.

Providence College for women - Coonoor was started in June 1966. This college was begun because there was an overwhelming need for a women's college in the Nilgiris. Providence college for women is founded and run by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Tarbes, a Catholic minority institution registered under the Nilgiris St. Joseph's Sisters Society. This institution was started for the benefit of Catholics and in addition, to others without distinction of caste or creed.

South Calcutta Girls' College takes pride in being the first college for women in south Kolkata. It was established in 1932 by eminent scholars and educationists like Peary mohan Chatterjee, after whom thye College library is named.South Calcutta Girls' College was initially a sister organization of the Beltala Girls' School and functioned as a morning college in the school premisestill mid- July, 1946. the College then shifted to 72 , Sarat Bose Road, Kolkata 700025, where it stands now.
