Girijananda Chowdhury Institute of Management and Technology, Guwahati campus was founded on 7 September 2006 as the first non-governmental engineering institute in Assam under the patronage of the Shrimanta Shankar Academy Society. Ever since its inception, the institute’s aim has been to establish a morally sound educational system, which not only produces competent professionals but also excellent human beings contributing towards the welfare of the Society.

Asian Institute of Management and Technology is situated in Guwahati in Assam state of India. Established in 2007, it is accredited from AICTE and it is affiliated to Gauhati University. AIMT, Guwahati offers 8 courses across 5 streams namely Management, Commerce and Banking, IT, Science, Media and Mass Communication and across 7 degrees like BSc, BMC, BCA, BCom, BBA. Lalit Chandra Bharali College, established on 9th August, 1971 and situated at easily accessible location, was started at the initiative of the neighborhood and the generous financial help of the donor after whom the College is named. It was established to cater to the needs of the students of the periphery areas of Guwahati in particular and the state as a whole.

The Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology GUIST was set up at the university campus in 2009 to enhance quality and innovation in Technology and Applied Science education. The Programmes being offered by the Institute initially were the four-year Bachelor of Science BS and Bachelor of Technology BTech Programmes, the two-year MS and MTech Programmes, and PhD programs in different disciplines.

Birjhora Mahavidyalaya popularly known as Birjhora Science College established in 1986, is affiliated to Gauhati University and offers regular Three-year- Degree Course in Science (B.Sc). Besides the traditional regular courses , the college offers study of courses conducted by the Institute of Distance and Open Learning (IDOL)-Gauhati University , Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University (KKHSOU) and various courses of IGNOU.
