The college was started in 1965 by the “Nadar Mahajana Sangam, Madurai ” with the encouragement of the generous donations received from philanthropic members of the sangam. Kodaivallal, kalvithanthai Thiru. S. Vellaichamy Nadar of Virudhunagar has contributed largely for the creation of this institution by his enthusiastic assistance in all ways. In order to perpetuate his pleasant memory, this college was named after him.

"The Standard Fireworks Rajaratnam College For Women" was established in 1968, in memory of the late philanthropist Thiru N.R.K.Rajaratnam, whose pioneering spirit in business and industry, earned for himself an indelible niche in the annals of Sivakasi.

When women education was not given much importance in 70’s in TamilNadu, our Founder President Thiru. Kulapathy A.P.C. Veerabahu thought of educating the poor rural girls who could not think of higher education. To give fillip to his thoughts, in 1973 our founder President started this college.
