महात्मा गांधी शासकीय कला एवं विज्ञानं स्नातकोत्तर महाविद्यालय खरसिया जिला रायगढ़ की स्थापना सर्वप्रथम नगरपालिका परिषद् खरसिया के द्वारा एक अशासकीय महाविद्यालय के रूप में १४ अगस्त सन १९६४ ई० में हुई थी.पहले केवल कला संकाय थी,जिसके अंतर्गत बी. ए. की कक्षाओं का संचालन किया जाता था. बाद में तत्कालीन नगरपालिका परिषद् के अध्यक्ष एवं महाविद्यालय शिक्षा समिति के पदेन अध्यक्ष स्व.श्री लखीराम अग्रवाल जी के प्रयास से वाणिज्य संकाय प्रारम्भ किया गया.
