Degree College, Sopore was founded initially as in intermediate college in 1951 and was upgraded as a degree college in 1963. It is the biggest co-educational institution in the valley of Kashmir. The college is situated 55 Kms. away north of Srinagar in semi-urban town of Sopore commonly called an ‘Apple Town’.
Govt.Degree College, Samba affiliated to University of Jammu was established in the year 2005, by the Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir.In the beginning only the subject in Arts stream were offered. It was in 2010 that in respond to students demand,Science and Commerce stream were also started in addition to Arts stream. At present there are 19 subjects taught in college. There are 37 permanent faculty members and 15 academic arrangement teachers in the college.
Govt Degree College, Kupwara was established with the aim of opening learning opportunities for the students of the educationally backward hilly, boarder district of Kupwara. Affiliated to the University of Kashmir and recognized by the UGC. The college has the unique distinction of being the first among the young colleges to get NAAC accreditation at B+ level.
