The society was established in 1996 (Reg.No.585/96) with the objective of promoting educational, social and cultural aspirations of rural people living in remote north-east hilly areas of Kannur district in Kerala. Shamsul – Ulama Memmorial (SUM) College of Teacher Education is situated in a peaceful and picturesque area near Mamba mosque Muzhappala, Chakkarakkal. Jamia Nadwiyya Training College is a minority secondary teacher education institution established and maintained by the Muslim community with the concurrence of Govt. of Kerala. It was established in 1995 and affiliated to the University of Calicut. NCTE granted recognitions for the B.Ed course. Later in 2004, TTC course was also granted recognition.
