When Andhra State was formed in October 1953, the government of Andhra decided to start a medical college in the Rayalaseema region of the state. In G.O. Ms. No. 1835, Health, dated 29th November 1955, the government of Andhra passed orders to establish a medical college, the third one in the state at Kurnool. As the building was not ready for locating this college the government decided to admit 50 students intended for Kurnool Medical College at Guntur in July 1956.

Creating doctors from this rural backward area was our dream and this came true in the year 2005 where we started out first MBBS batch. Development doesn’t come from huge buildings or rich atmosphere,it comes when a common man is provided with basis facilities especially in fields of Health and Education.

Sri Ramakrishna Educational Society was founded in 1984 under the able chairmanship of a visionary and educationist Dr.G. Ramakrishna reddy. The Society started Sri Ramakrishna Degree College in the same year at Nandyal, a commercial headquarters of Kurnool district. The college is known for its for its academic excellence.
