On the 29th day of June, 1903 the Wesleyan Mission College was established in Bankura bringing in its wake a new era of emancipation. The College has been accredited by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) in 2006 as the first one in the discrict and is undergoing reformation in all infra and super structural facilities. The uplift needed for its becoming a centre of excellence is earnestly cared now by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of the college.

Bankura Unnayani Institute of Engineering, established in 1998, is a Government supported Engineering College in the district of Bankura. Late Jyoti Basu, the then honorable Chief Minister, Government of West Bengal inaugurated this degree Engineering Institute on 19th September, 1998. It is the proud recipient of the most valuable accolade in the form of Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP – Phase II), a MHRD approved World Bank project.

Gobinda Prasad Mahavidyalaya was established in 1985 to pay homage to the sacred memory of Late Gobinda Prasad Singha, an eminent freedom fighter and social worker of Bankura District, with a noble purpose of extending higher education among the poor and backward people of the locality.The college was granted temporary affiliation by the University of Burdwan on 20.09.1985 which approved its permanent affiliation on 30.08.1988.

K.G. Engineering Institute, established in 1922, is a polytechnic college located in the city of Bishnupur, West Bengal of India. KG Engineering Institute, Bishnupur is one of the oldest Government Polytechnic in West Bengal. Situated in the heart of Bishnupur Town which was the capital of the famous Mallarajas enriched by its art and cultures recognised and appreciated by people around the World.

B.S. Medical College was established in 1956 by Bankura Sammilani Trust. The college was taken over by Government of West Bengal in 1961. MCI recognition for 100 MBBS seats was finally recognized in December 2005. Post graduate courses in General Medicine, General Surgery, Pediatric Medicine and Gynae & Obstetrics were permitted by MCI in March, 2009.
